Training Programme

E-mail Print PDF

The dynamic and increasingly complex socio-economic, political, and technological environment within which the professional accountant must operate imposes a significant increase in the technical knowledge and skills required of him or her.  Added to this, is the growing public expectation of the competence of the professional accountant.

These pressures, as well as the professional accountant’s continuing ethical duty to maintain professional knowledge and skill, make it imperative to operate an effective programme of Continuing Professional Education to equip members with the requisite tools needed to keep up-to-date.

It is for this reason that the Institute has operated and continues to operate CPD programmes for the benefit of members in particular and the public in general.

The objectives of the Institute’s CPD are to update and maintain the technical knowledge of members, preserve the standards of the profession and maintain public confidence in the profession.

Each programme has been designed to generate intensive, in depth, highly interactive and practical sessions to cater for member’s professional and educational needs.  The depth and scope of coverage of the programmes have been enhanced to provide more value.  Participants would be encouraged through syndicate sessions to contribute ideas, express opinions and relate experiences in all the programmes which will be delivered with the support of modern training equipment.

This year’s programmes will focus essentially on four main areas.  These are:  International Accounting Standards, International Public Sector Accounting Standards, Information Technology and Oil and Gas Accounting and members of the profession are encouraged to attend regularly our seminars and workshops, for as is often said, “Knowledge is a perishable commodity which becomes obsolete with the passage of time and therefore it has to be reaffirmed, re-learnt and re-practised all the time”.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • All our workshops start at 9.00 a.m. and close at 4.00 p.m.
  • Fees include cocoa/coffee breaks, lunch and handouts
  • Participants who register and pay the prescribed fees a week before the start of the programme are entitled to 10% discount
  • Venues will be confirmed for the workshop
  • Nomination of participants should be made by sponsors on nomination forms, copies of which must be obtained from the Institute.  Completed forms should be returned to the Institute before the commencement of the programme.
  • Certificate of participation will be issued to all active participants

2011 CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
